Patient Choice:

In 2016 Health Minister Dustin Duncan introduced The MRI Facilities Licensing Act and The Patient Choice Medical Imaging Act. This Act gave Saskatchewan residents and others the option to pay for private MRI’s. This allows individuals to make a choice pay for an MRI at Open Skies rather than wait in line to have it in a hospital.

The importance of prompt diagnosis can make all the difference in patient treatment and prognosis. This is especially important when managing diseases like cancer that if detected early have a much higher treatment success rate.

When patients are given options in their healthcare it gives them a sense of autonomy and control over their own bodies and outcomes. Having the option to get an MRI privately means not having to wait for results and that can make all the difference in timely diagnosis, treatment and overall successful outcome. Even if your tests prove that you are healthy, timely results can ease worry and unnecessary stress.
